Monday 24 July - rain, Lauragais, fuses, La Dine, A&F leave, wind, newbies

We had a rainy night, but awoke refreshed after a good night’s sleep by the quiet canal. However, since we had been off shore power for a while and the generator was still not working properly, we decided to head back to Port Lauragais

Later in the morning, Andre and Francoises drove Rita to the station at Avignonet to check the station layout for her trip to Moissac tomorrow to play in a concert, while I stayed on the boat to monitor the shore power fuses. Strangely, today, everything seemed to be behaving itself. Go figure!

After Andre, Francoises and Rita returned from exploring Avignonet (the station was a non-event, but the rest of the town was very interesting), we wandered over to la Dinee for lunch. It’s not often you can have lunch in a cafe and check your boat at the same time.

But much too soon, it was time for Andre and Francoises to leave, since they had to drive to Moissac to say goodbye to Francoises' parents, then continue on up to their home near Lille, in time to prepare for starting work again next week.

After they left, more rain and wind arrived, making barging conditions very tricky. We had no plans for going anywhere, but it did make for some interesting entertainment as we watched the hire-boat newbies returning to port, and try to moor tail-end to the quai.
