Wednesday 25 September - cycling from Montauban, Montach, VW breakdown

Worked on house plans for the tradespeople, updating them with some of the recent changes in design for en-suites etc. In the late morning, we went over to Montauban in Nico’s new VW truck for Rita and Nico to have a meeting with the Patrimonie man while Miyu and I sat in the park and talked. After the meeting, Nico and Miyu headed off to Redon in the truck, while Rita and I headed back to Moissac on our bikes (about 35 km).  Stopped at Montauban Port to talk with Francis and the lady at Le Port about next year’s gig – sounds promising. Then off on our bikes through the autumn leaves.

We rode along the canal to Larcourt St Pierre, then took to the back roads to go to Montech, where we passed by the now-abandoned water slide.

We then rode on to Castelsarrasin, where we saw David and Evelyn moored in L’Espacapade, and Don and Laura from Largo, both of whom were still returning from the Toulouse rally. Stopped and talked to them for a little while and arranged to meet them again in Moissac on Friday afternoon for a BBQ at the house. David pumped up our tyres to 3 bar before we left and we literally whizzed back to Moissac. Along the way we got a phone call from Nico saying that the VW truck had broken down (broken alternator belt) about 30 minutes north of Montauban, and asked if we could come to pick him up. So we peddled home quickly to Moissac, pausing to get a nice sunset shot from the Cacor Viaduct over the Tarn River.

After we got back to Moissac we searched for and eventually found the location where the VW had broken down on GoogleMap, then I set off about 8.30pm. After getting a little bit lost, I eventually found them and brought them home (while getting flashed by a speed camera along the way). Got home around 11pm and then had a well-deserved beer, and then off to catch up on some sleep. Nico and Miyu will now stay in Moissac until we leave next week.
