Friday 10 July - parking fine, Blausee, trout, Spiez

After having just paid the two parking fines we got in Bern last year, I awoke this morning to find we had got another one today for parking in front of Kuno’s. Fine way to start the day )-:

Today was a day to spend with Mutti, who wanted to go for a drive to the mountains. She chose Blausee, because it wasn’t too far away and was relatively easy to walk around. Blausee is a crystal-clear turquoise lake in the Bernese Oberlander.

It is famous for the huge trout that swim there (and provide meals for the adjacent restaurant).

We had lunch at the lakeside restaurant, and yes I had the trout, and yes they tasted as good as they looked!

After lunch we headed back towards Bern, but stopped at Spiez on Lake Thun. This is a beautiful little town, with lots of aquatic and boating activity.

We went for a short walk along the coastline, and saw many lake ferries arriving and departing from the wharf. Oh yes, Rita also went for a swim in the lake.

Later we went for coffee at the harbourside cafe, and watched the yachts and other vessels manoeuvring into and out of their moorings.
