Monday 4 August - solid morning rain, reducer, house cleaners

We woke to solid heavy rain in the morning. This year is so different to last year, when it was just hot, hot, hot. Now we are getting a couple of warm days (but nothing really hot so far), mixed in with rainy and thunderstorm days. Actually makes it a bit more bearable, especially for sleeping at night, but I hope it clears up by the time the band arrives in the middle of this month. After all, it is supposed to be summer.

Since it was raining, we thought we may as well do some of the required shopping for the house. So off we went to Intermarche, and raided their bathroom linen supplies as we bought 16 bath towels, 16 hand towels, 16 face clothes and 6 bath mats.

The macerator saga continues; in fact, it’s been so long now that we hardly know we don’t have an on-board toilet, so long as the toilets at the Uvarium remain open during the day. Now that we have a new 220v toilet, we realise that the output fittings aren’t quite the same, and so we have been searching for a 40mm/25mm reducer to connect the toilet to the outlet pipe to the black tank. Today we got a reducer from Iain, but unfortunately it is a 38.5mm/28.5mm reducer, so we will take that around the hardware and plumbing stores tomorrow to try and get the correct size.

Nico came over today with a quote from the cleaners for the house next week, after most of the work has been done and before the furniture is moved in. 880euro for 2 days cleaning the entire house seems OK, providing they do a thorough job.

Some days, nothing much happens. This was one of those days!
