Friday 15 August - the big assumption, setting up house

Today everything was shut in France, since it was Assumption Day. I don’t know if the French population is still very religious (Catholic) but everyone is very willing to take a religious public holiday. I guess it’s a bit like Australians still being willing to take the Queen’s Birthday public holiday!

We spent the day setting up the house - making trestle tables, hanging curtains, fixing mirrors to the bathroom walls, putting the sheets etc on the beds, putting towels and washers in bathrooms, and setting up the temporary kitchen in the Storeroom.
