Friday 27 September - brunch with friends, last Tarn swim, plumbing surprise

David, Evelyn, Donald and Laura came to the house for brunch, after an official tour of the house. In the early afternoon, Nico found out that his truck had been fixed so we went over to La Madelaine to pick it up. When we got it home, it looked quite at home in front of the house.

While we were away, Rita met with the rose man, who outlined what he planned to do with the roses over winter. He also described how he could create the two sitting areas in the garden. Rita and I then went for our final bike ride up the Tarn so that she could swin under the aqueduct (since today will be the last fine day before we leave).

Then home to talk with Thierry Giraud about the plumbing, and found a few surprises with how the plumbing for the toilets had been arranged. It seems that the outlet from the new macerator toilet on the ground floor goes straight into the waste water drain, then out into an open pit under the footpath outside the kitchen window. Doesn't sound to us like this is the proper way to do the plumbing for these toilets, but who knows in France!

After a long talk with Thierry, we had a late evening dinner on the back verandah.
