Wednesday 14 August - The Testament, little boat, sun screens, Le Piglet

Finished reading The Testament, another good Grisham legal novel with a few twists and an interesting human angle that makes you think about the good and bad effects of money. Boat came into port today with a Bernese Bear on their bow flag – heard some very familiar language from them. Lots of hire boats coming through port today, stopping for lunch. Also, after yesterday's big peniches, today we got one of the smallest boats for the season.

Spent the afternoon making the third of the three sun screens for the rear deck – now we can have sun shading and privacy on both sides of the rear deck.

Helped Peter and Amanda moor Le Piglet just behind Kanumbra after they returned from the Tarn. Peter then invited me for a beer, which turned into two, then some wine and something to eat, and a long talk with the local English lady who sells vegetables to the boaters. Finally got back to Kanumbra after 11pm. During the evening, we got to talking about current issues in footy and Peter, being a cartoonist, took the opportunity to draw up a quick sketch.
