Thurs 19 Sept - sunny but breezy, shore power, Supreme Court, Jabsco problems

The morning in port dawned sunny but a bit breezy, As the morning progressed, the wind strength increased. In mid-morning, I noticed several people, including Capitain John, walking up and down the pontoon. When I went out to check, I saw that they were examining several of the elecricity bornes along the pontoon. John mentioned that the shore power on Pontoon A had gone out during the night and they were now trying to isolate the problem. When I checked on Kanumbra, I saw that despite being connected to shore-power, the battery charge had decreassed to 61%. By noon, the power had been fully restored, as we continued working on exam preparations and blog maintenance.

I also did some Googling on problems with Jabsco water pumps, especially searching for why the pump runs for an extended time after the taps are turned off. Two potential causes kept reappearing; air pockets in the pipes, and low voltage being supplied to the pump. Perhaps the fact that we have often been running on battery power (not shore power) for the past few weeks could be contributing to the latter.

We had planned to move the boat further up Pontoon A today to our final winter mooring spot, but John agreed that because of the increasing wind strength, it was not a wise move. That can wait until tomorrow. So it was definitely a study and blog day. I also followed some of the Brexit Supreme Court hearings.

In the evening, Rita cooked one of her famous pizzas for dinner, while Auxonne gave us sunsets of various hues.
