Epilogue - Cruising so Far

In 2011, at the end of our first year of barging, I included a map in this blog, showing the extent of our cruising to date, and noted that "The rest of the French canals await us in the coming years". Well I thought it was about time I updated that map, to show how much we had fullfilled that ambition.

In 2012-17, given that we were still moored in our original home port of Moissac, we only marginally increased our cruising range, getting to the western end of the Canal de Garonne, doing both parts of the River Lot, going a bit further up the Baise to Nerac, down the Montech canal to Montauban, to Toulouse for the 2013 DBA Rally, and down the Midi as far as Carcassonne for the 2017 fireworks on July 14th.

2018 was clearly our biggest year in terms of kilometres travelled, as we went from Moissac down the Midi, and then up the Rhone and Saone to Auxonne.

This year, for various reasons, we didn't cruise as far as we intended, exploring just the start of the River Doubs up to Montbeliard, and the River Saone beyond Gray to PK303.

Clearly there is still lots of Northern France yet to explore. I wonder where we'll get to in 2020?
