Mon 15 July - laundromat, BeConnected, bike ride, beer, crepes, coypu

Having arrived back from Beziers with two very heavy, sweaty karate kiminos, it was time to go use the port laundromat, since they kiminos were too big for our little washing machine on the barge.

While Rita was up at the laundromat, I received an email from the Be Connected program, saying that the grant application from CH@T (Community Hub at Taggerty) had been approved. This is a Federal Government program whereby we need to support 30 older (>50) Australians to gain basic digital skills and confidence over the next 10 months. I will be running these workshops after I get back to Australia.

In the late afternoon, after the temperature had dropped a little, we went for a bike ride up the Saone similar to what I did a couple of days ago but going a bit further this time, up to the village of Abergement-la-Ronce. The bike path was of excellent quality since it is part of the EuroVelo 6 network, which runs from Nantes on the Atlantic Ocean in the west of France through to the Black Sea in Romania.

We stopped at a little rest area, undoubtedly built with European Union funds, and enjoyed the shade and the gardens.

We then cycled our way back to SJDL, where we enjoyed a well-earned beer at a riverside cafe. Then back to the barge to have crepes for dinner (yum!). While we were sitting on the rear deck we noticed something moving in the weeds, and after a while it swam over to the boat and took up position on the weeds near the bow of the boat, where we got a good shot of this coypu (about 1m in overall length).
