Tues 20 Aug - rain, green waste, Jim, Carolyn, swim, Kindle with Ginger, Chinese

There was some morning rain, which gradually cleared but remained cool. We had put out all the green waste, especially from the ivy pruning, but were uncertain whether the green waste collectors would take it all. But the truck arrived and departed and magically all of the waste was gone!

With that out of the way, Rita continued her study and I continued with this blog, then we went for a walk down to the port and caught up with Captain Jim. All seems to be going well, but the closure of the Sunbeam Cafe is still a major disruption to port life. They really must find an alternative venue for regular Friday evening drinks. As we were talking, we noticed that Carolyn had arrived in port, skippered by the Big Tosser of 2016.

In the afternoon Rita went for a swim, while I settled down on the belvedere with my iPad to finish reading a novel in Kindle. Or at least I tried to, until Ginger found me and decided that he liked lying on the iPad to lick himself.

In the evening, we walked down the canal a little way to go to an Asian restaurant that we had seen when we walked back from St Nicolas yesterday. This restaurant used to be closer into the centre of town, and was where the Pans on Fire band went in 2014 after a long and strenuous rehearsal session. The buffet meal was just as good as I remembered, and the owner still provides free shots of Saké at the end of the meal. I remember Monica buying six of his shot glasses from him in 2014, and they still have the same rude pictures at the bottom of the glass!  He was happy that we appreciated our visit 5 years ago, and was pleased to pose with us.
