Thurs 7 Sept - 3 water dogs, 2 churches, head south, Besançon, dragon boat

The day started slowly, with the only entertainment being three dogs exploring the rock wall on the other side of the canal. The little one was the funniest, getting right down to water level and then snapping at fish swimming just under the surface.

On our side of the canal, the spires of the town church and the chapel on the hill looked great in the bright morning sun.

But soon it was time to head north a little way, turn the boat around in the wider river, then head back through Deluz to start our journey back to Besancon. As we left the canal to return to the River Doubs, some cyclists resting canalside gave us a big wave and wished us Bon Voyage. A few hours later, we were back in Besancon and settling into some familar surroundings, accompanied by the crew of the adult dragon boat.
