Saturday 13 Sept - Moissac Book, Besain, AFL, dinner with Sarah and Albon

Rita went up to the Market early today, and came home with a book about Moissac that she had found at the Tourist Bureau. I had seen this book a few days ago, and so started leafing through it. I found that it was a relatively recent book, and was surprised to see a photo of Kanumbra on page 87 in the description of the 2012 Pentecote Fete. So now we are officially part of Moissac history!

Today was the start of our second adventure with the band, as we headed to Switzerland to meet up with several of them next week. Today we intended to get as far as Besain, in the French Jura region, where one of Rita’s best friends Sarah has recently gone to live on a farm with her husband Albon and their two boys. So in mid-morning we headed off via Montauban, Brive, Clermont-Ferrand, Montmarault, Macon, Bourg-en-Bresse and Poligny, arriving in the tiny town of Besain around 1800h.

We had dinner with Sarah and Albon, then went for a walk around the town, including the dairy farm into which Albon is buying a one-third share.

After dinner, I checked the scores in the other AFL Elimination Final today between Port Adelaide and Fremantle, and was surprised to see that the underdog Port had got up to defeat Freo, meaning that both the 3rd and 4th teams at the end of the season had been eliminated from the finals, leaving the Hawks to play Port next week, while Sydney play North Melbourne.
